Harvest of the Month
Nebraska Harvest of the Month is a flexible, statewide Farm to School program that celebrates Nebraska-grown and raised foods. Featuring over 30 local products, including fruits, vegetables, proteins, and more. The program offers free, ready-to-use resources to support food tastings, classroom lessons, and school meals. All materials are open and available year-round, allowing schools and sites to choose which items to feature each month based on interest, seasonality, and availability. Many resources are also now available in Spanish, making it easier to engage with a wide range of students and families. Materials can be used in schools, early care and education settings, afterschool programs, and at home.

Nebraska Harvest of the Month Indigenous Foods
Many foods we eat today have existed in North America for years and have been essential for Native American Tribes across the country. Indigenous Harvest of the Month highlights some of these items. Each tribe is unique and what they eat varies according to the area, tribe, and traditions and can be appreciated on its own merits. The reader should understand that these resources include general descriptions that vary with different tribes. The Indigenous Harvest of the Month program was developed in partnership with the Center for Rural Affairs.

Chef’s Table
Chef’s Table is an interactive tasting event where students take the lead in testing a new recipe featuring a locally sourced ingredient. This hands-on experience puts youth at the center of the process, giving them a voice in shaping potential additions to the school meal program. Through activities like cooking, marketing, and sensory evaluation, students build real-world skills while exploring the power of local food.
