Welcome to the Nebraska Department of Education Office of Human Resources
The Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) is comprised of individuals who are committed to providing services that ultimately result in a quality education for all Nebraska students. Approximately 500 employees carry out the myriad duties assigned by state and federal statues and the policy direction of the State Board of Education.
In broad terms, the work of NDE may be categorized into four main areas:
- Education,
- Assisting people with disabilities to join the workforce,
- Adjudication of claims for disability benefits under Social Security or Supplemental Security Income, and
- Agency administration.
Because of the varied work, NDE has an eclectic mix of personnel including accountants, attorneys, educators who work in consultant and leadership roles, rehabilitation specialists, adjudicators, support personnel, human resources staff, program directors and many more.
