What is Summer EBT?
Summer EBT (SEBT) is a program that helps households with eligible school-age children buy groceries during the summer months when children do not have access to school meals.
Who is Eligible?
School-age, income-eligible children who…
- receive free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program
or
- participate in the following public assistance programs:
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
- Aid to Dependent Children (ADC), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR)
- Medicaid – enrolled in a qualifying income-based Medicaid program
- Qualifying income-based Medicaid programs include households with income under 185% of the federal poverty level
- Head Start AND receive free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program
or
- are identified as having foster or migrant status
Who Should Apply?
School-age, income-eligible children who…
- did NOT receive National School Lunch Program free or reduced-price meals OR attend a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) school, where all students receive meals at no cost, and who are not receiving public assistance benefits,
and
- are at or below income listed in the 2025-2026 Income Guidelines,
and
- are NOT homeschooled.
in the 2025-2026 school year.
YOU MIGHT NOT NEED TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION IF…
your student(s) was approved for free or reduced-price meals OR was homeschooled and received the eligible public assistance benefits during the 2025-2026 school year because you are automatically eligible to receive 2026 Summer EBT benefits.

Approved households will receive a determination email within 5 business days.
