New Meal Pattern Certification - 6 Cents
The Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act provides an additional 6-cents per
lunch reimbursement to school districts that certifiy to be in compliance
with the new meal pattern requirements. The increased reimbursement, a significant
investment in improving the quality of school meals, will be provided to
school districts once they meet the new meal patterns published in the final
rule on January 26, 2012. Funding becomes available to school districts
starting October 1, 2012.

This outline will give you a general overview of all the Certification Steps. It also includes a menu Organization checklist and links to resources.
USDA released Policy Memorandum SP 11-2013, on December 7, 2012 regarding minimum and maximums for the component requirements for grains and meat/meat alternate. State
Agencies will consider School Food Authorities compliant if the menu is compliant with the daily and weekly minimums for these two components, regardless of whether they have exceeded the maximums for the same components.
