Frequently Asked Questions

As of June 4th, 2025, any applicant that has completed an educator preparation program through a college or university will not be required to take or pass the Praxis Content test. This does not include those applicants that are obtaining a temporary teaching certificate or those that are wanting to add an endorsement by taking the content test.

Application Process

Be advised, the application process differs depending on the type of certificate you are applying for. For a more detailed application process, click on your specific certificate or permit type above.

The general application process is as follows:

Apply through our TEACH portal.
Submit Official Transcripts if applicable.
Pay application fee.
Submit a set of fingerprints if you have not been a resident of Nebraska for the past 5 years and/or have not previously held a NE teaching certificate/permit.
Additional forms may be required depending on your certification type. Please see Supporting Forms on our website if additional forms are requested.

In order to finish and submit an application, you are not required to have all additional forms and documents in to NDE at the time of application. All applications and fees are valid for one year.
