Nebraska Certificate Endorsements

Endorsements in Nebraska

  • Endorsements may be earned through Nebraska institutions, online or out-of-state institutions or by taking a Praxis content test. Please see our added endorsement page for more information on those processes.
  • Below is a list of all the endorsements that can be earned in Nebraska. Please note, not all states offer the same endorsements or have the same requirements.
  • All endorsements with an * have additional requirements or specific requirements for grade levels sought. Please see Rule 24 for more detailed information: Endorsements – Nebraska Department of Education

There are sixteen (16) approved educator preparation programs in Nebraska. All Nebraska institutions must successfully complete the state approval process for these programs. Additionally, many of these institutions have achieved national accreditation through the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).  All sixteen (16) institutions in Nebraska that prepare teachers are members of the Nebraska Association of Colleges of Teacher Education (NACTE).

If you are interested in attending one of these institutions for education, please use the following links below. Once you find a program that will work for you, please contact a certification officer for that institution to get further information. The educator certification office at NDE cannot provide information on your progress towards an endorsement. This can only be confirmed by your institution.

You may take coursework from an institution that is outside of Nebraska. The institution is required to meet our requirements for educator preparation programs and educator endorsements and be a regionally accredited institution. The educator certification office at NDE cannot determine if that program will allow for Nebraska certification. You can send the following resources to your institution for them to determine if they can meet the requirements or not.

Make sure your institution is willing to sign any of the required documentation before enrolling in the program to ensure a smooth process for certification. NDE does not approve out-of-state institutions or online institutions as educator preparation programs in Nebraska. Also, ensure that the program you are completing will lead to certification.
