Training Authorization

The Nebraska Department of Education (NDE), Office of Early Childhood along with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) have established pathways for early childhood professionals to receive approval for in-service hours.

On the tabs below you will find the different ways to receive training authorization for child care providers and professionals, as well as the 3 training tracks available to Nebraska trainers.

Pre-Service Training Plan

A written plan for a newly hired teacher or director who does not meet the Department of Health and Human Services qualifications. This plan is only for teachers and directors working in licensed child care centers, preschool and school age only programs. The Pre-Service Training Plan application can be accessed in NECPRS.

Post Secondary Coursework Annual Training Equivalencies Request

A request to receive equivalencies for completed coursework from an accredited college or university for annual in-service hours in early childhood education, a designated related field, administration or related to the employee’s current role in the early childhood program. The Post Secondary Coursework Annual Training Equivalencies request can be found in NECPRS.

Training Authorization Application

All training used to meet the childcare licensing required pre-service and in-service hours for childcare licensing must be approved by the Nebraska Department of Education Office of Early Childhood. Training authorization applications require a NECPRS account. Training must be a workshop that a participant will physically attend in a group or in a live online forum where a trainer is present and delivering content.

Independent Study is available to all early childhood professionals looking to obtain state approved in-service hours for self-paced learning. Individuals who read a book, view a DVD/webinar, or complete a self-study (not listed on Automatically Accepted list) need to complete an Independent Study application in NECPRS for approval.

Automatically accepted trainings do not require the completion of an Independent Study application.

Visit the Nebraska Early Learning Library to find and check out free materials for independent study.

Outlined below are the 3 training tracks for early childhood trainers.
