The Nebraska Department of Education, Office of Special Education, is committed to creating inclusive learning environments for all students, including students with disabilities. NDE offers two essential guides to support inclusive practices in schools. These resources demonstrate that inclusive education isn’t about a specific placement or program; it’s a comprehensive approach ensuring all students with disabilities have equitable access to grade-level instruction alongside their peers, preparing them for post-secondary success.

As part of Nebraska’s “Journey to Inclusion,” we have partnered with Hanover Research to create meaningful, accessible resources that empower stakeholders to champion inclusive education. Our newly published infographic, “Best Practices in Special Education,” showcases high-impact instructional strategies that benefit not only students with special needs but every learner in the classroom. These evidence-based practices also align with the strategies featured in schools’ Targeted Improvement Plans (TIP), supporting continuous growth and excellence in Special Education programs across the state.

The Nebraska Department of Education has partnered with SPED Strategies to provide educators with comprehensive, research-based resources that support inclusive education for students with disabilities. These five guides address essential topics, including fostering inclusive school cultures, advancing inclusive instructional practices, implementing early literacy interventions for grades K-5, integrating IEPs into daily instruction, and ensuring access in general education classrooms. These resources offer leaders and educators actionable strategies for creating learning environments where all students can access high-quality, grade-level instruction.
