(Staff Reporting is open until June 30 for Districts/Systems to make updates throughout the school year and has several different deadlines.)

Once data has been entered into the Staff Reporting collection, please visit the NSSRS Validation collection to view any associated errors and reports. Note: there are new staff errors this year. Additionally, these errors/reports change throughout the school year, so please review the data within NSSRS Validation every so often.

Staff Reporting 2024-2025 Update

DUE DATE

Due to changes in NSAA Bylaw, reporting the Position Assignment Code 5330 – Activities/Athletic Coach in Staff Reporting is now optional. According to 2.12.2: Coaches and Sponsors. School districts may choose to hire their own external coaches and employ those individuals who do not possess a Nebraska Teacher Certificate or Nebraska Administrative and Supervisory Certificate.

If Districts choose to continue to report Coaches in their Staff Reporting 24-25 collections, the NDE will run certification checks on the Position Assignment Code 5330. Revised Staff Reporting 24-25 guidance can be found here.

State statute requires Public Districts and Nonpublic Systems submit a Fall Personnel Report by September 15. Special Purpose Schools, Educational Service Units and Interim Programs (Rule 18) should also report during this time frame as well.

To add the Staff Reporting 2024-2025 collection to portal accounts, a new activation code is required every year and can be obtained from your portal District Administrator. The collection is located within the Student & Staff (NSSRS) tab of the portal.

Conditional and Alternative Permit Request – Summer/Fall 2024

OPENS
04/11/2024
CLOSES
10/16/2024

The purpose of this bulletin item is to provide information on how to request a conditional or alternative permit for teachers who have been hired to start in SUMMER or FALL 2024 and may not have all their necessary documentation prior to the first day of school with students.

A conditional permit allows someone to sign a contract and work as a certified staff member with a location (district) limitation and deficiencies that have not been met to issued a regular teaching certificate such as a content test. A conditional permit can also be requested for someone who has applied for a local substitute permit and has not completed the human relations training course.

An Alternative Permit is designed for an applicant to complete a program before applying for a regular certificate while being employed as a contracted teacher.
Conditional and Alternative Permits can only be requested for employment in a Nebraska school district. If an applicant has not been a continuous resident of Nebraska for the last five years, fingerprint cards will need to be sent to the certification office before any permits can be issued. Once all deficiencies listed have been satisfied on a conditional permit, a regular certificate/permit will be issued without the need to apply and pay a fee unless the conditional permit has been invalidated by the expiration date.

A conditional or alternative permit can be requested by completing the Google Form for those with Summer or Fall teaching positions at https://forms.gle/TWYMHF2m3Lgcj4pf8
