New ADVISER Validation Errors Starting 9/26/2025 (Part 1 of 2)

Several new ADVISER Validation errors and warnings will be activated in the 2025-2026 school year on Friday, 9/26/2025. The error numbers and descriptions are listed here.

Error 818: Excused Absence For Disciplinary Action Reasons Reported For Student Without a Suspension or Expulsion

An absence record was reported for a student with an Attendance Event Category code of 06 “Excused Absence – Disciplinary action, not receiving instruction”, but the student does not have any discipline incidents reported that include a Discipline code of either 03 “Out Of School Suspension”, 04 “Expulsion”, or 05 “Expulsion With Services”. Please verify if the reported absence data is correct, or report the related discipline incident to ADVISER.

Warning 819: Special Education Student With Exit Reason SPED11 “Transferred to Another School District (Moved Known to Be Continuing)” Without a Following Special Education Program Record

Warning – a student was reported by your district with a Special Education Program that included the SPED11 “Transferred to Another School District (Moved Known to Be Continuing)” exit reason, however no following Special Education Program record has been reported by a Nebraska public school district. Please verify this is the correct SPED exit reason for your student.

Warning 820: A Student Reported in ADVISER Does Not Have a Matching Record in ADVISER Person ID

A student currently enrolled in your district does not have an ADVISER Person ID record submitted by your district for this school year. It is recommended that districts upload a file to Person ID each year that includes all students enrolled in the district, as this helps the Person ID system ensure accurate matching, as well as providing data for direct certification in the child nutrition system.

Several new ADVISER Validation errors and warnings will be activated in the 2025-2026 school year on Friday, 9/26/2025. The error numbers and descriptions are listed here.

Error 822: Residency Status Code “10” Reported for a Resident Student

A student enrollment record was reported with a Residency Status code of 10 “Part-Time Students Enrolled Outside of Resident District for Extracurricular Activities”, but the District of Residence reported for the student is your own district. Either correct the District of Residence in the enrollment record or the Residency Status code. A nonpublic or exempt school student that attends your district part-time who also resides in your district can be reported with a Residency Status code of 00 “Not Applicable”.

Error 823: Residency Status Code “10” Reported for a Full Time FTE Student

A student enrollment record was reported with a Residency Status code of 10 “Part-Time Students Enrolled Outside of Resident District for Extracurricular Activities”, but the FTE reported for the student is 100%. Either correct the FTE amount in the enrollment record or correct the Residency Status code.

The NDE and SIS Vendor support teams encourage all Data Stewards and SPED staff who review and approve ADVISER data to attend at least one workday every data reporting period. NDE, SRS and SIS Vendor Support will be available to assist you with any questions and troubleshooting of your data.

To date, the schedule and attending support staff include:

ADVISER Data Elements Guidance for 2025-2026 plus Special Guidance Released for LB306

Public Districts, Special Purpose Schools, ESUs

The ADVISER Resources webpage has been updated with ADVISER Data Elements v10.0 guidance for the 2025-2026 school year. Please refer to Appendix A to see the list of changes for this year.

In addition, special guidance has also been released with details about LB306, which was recently passed, and is effective for the 2025-2026 school year – Guidance for Reporting Part-Time Students Enrolled Outside of Resident District for Extracurricular Activities. The new Residency Status Code: 10, mentioned here, is a late addition to 2025-2026 ADVISER. The NDE is beginning to work with SIS vendors to include the code before the end of the Fall data collection window.

2024-2025 ADVISER Calendar And Data Elements Documents Now Available

The ADVISER Resources website has been updated with the 2024-2025 school year data collection calendar, as well as the new ADVISER Data Elements 2024-2025 v9.0 document. Please especially take note of the changes to this Fall’s Follow Up Collection in the 2024-2025 calendar, and also please utilize Appendix A in the Data Elements document to see what has changed year over year.
