Cybersecurity

There has been a lot of news lately about data breaches and other cyber attacks on schools and businesses. A recent statistic in Nebraska reveals that 91% of the cyber attacks that have been reported in our state are human error. Someone clicked a link or gave out sensitive information unknowingly to someone to name a few.

Concerned officials in Nebraska and across the United States are focusing efforts on trying to cut the number of incidents down. Unfortunately, the people behind the cyber attacks are getting more sophisticated in their tactics. What can we do?

We can take steps to try to protect ourselves and this is why we have two factor authentication, no administrator rights on your work computer, stronger passwords, change our passwords frequently, keep software and hardware up-to-date, not clicking on links, and a lot of other things that just seem inconvenient. Education is key to cut the number of incidents down.
