Data Policy Committee

The Data Policy Committee helps in establishing data governance and ensures proper implementation of the polices throughout Nebraska Department of Education (NDE). This committee demonstrates state and associated agency leadership’s importance of data and its resources and commit that data will be managed and used to support NDE needs. The policy details the scope of the data governance effort, establishes and grants authority to the key groups and roles within the data governance structure, and defines key terms.

With data governance in place, the quality and security of data collected, reported, and used by NDE will be more systematic. It will further ensure in reducing staff burden; and enhance communication, collaboration, and relationships across the various agencies and programs and information technology (IT) staff will be improved.

Committee Functions

The Data Policy Committee is focused on establishing an improved seamless data governance within the NDE’s day to day data movements. Their prime focus is around taking decisions that will directly impose good governance and guide the path for increased data management / handling and security.
