Defining comprehensible input in exemplary World Language instruction

“CI” is a common buzz word. What exactly is it? How is it being used in the world language classroom? A challenging review of CI will be followed b strategies that can be used for successful implementation. This session will be fast-paced, thought-provoking, and applicable to any world language teacher at any level.

Dr. Stephen Krashen’s theory of second language acquisition presented five hypothesis. Among those was his input hypothesis that defines comprehensible input. Since the publication of “Principles and Practice in Second Language Acquisition” in 1982, there has been much reflection on what comprehensible input means in daily teaching and learning.
