Standard Response Protocol & Standard Reunification Method

Standard Response Protocol (SRP)

The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) is based on an all-hazards approach utilizes clear common language so anyone from any district across the state will know what to do when a threat, hazard, or incident occurs in or around a school. The premise is simple by communicating one of the core actions a “directive” will follow for individuals to execute the specific action. The SRP is based on these five core actions: To get more specific information about each individual core action click on them below:

The Standard Reunification Method (SRM) – Reunify action is when a circumstance may occur at a school requiring parents to pick up their students in a more formalized, controlled manner. It could be necessary due to weather, a power outage, hazmat event, or a danger or crisis in or around a school. To get more specific information about Reunify action click below:

SRP/SRM Introductory Training for Any Before, After, or During School Situation

A quick 25-minute module of preparedness for anyone who may be in a school facility when a threat, hazard, or incident happens. Every School Community person (school personnel, parents, after school care workers, clergy, activity coaches or volunteers, or anyone else in the building) can learn these five core actions or reunification best practices. If everyone in our school community learns and understands these protocols anxiety levels will be reduced while better transitions will occur during an actual event!

Partnership to Keep Nebraska School Communities Safe

The Nebraska Department of Education’s School Safety & Security Team partnered with the I Love U Guys Foundation to create the Nebraska SRP/SRM Toolkit. The collaboration between the two organizations built the toolkit to give Nebraska public and non-public schools the tools to speak the same common language during any threat, hazard, or incident that can occur in or around a school community. When we are all communicating and responding the same way during a time of crisis school communities will be safer and more secure!

A Special Thanks to the I Love U Guys Foundation Team in Helping Keep Our Nebraska School Communities Safe!
