Staff Reporting for 2025-2026 – Now Open

OPENS
08/11/2025
CLOSES
09/15/2025

State statute requires Public Districts and Nonpublic Systems submit a Fall Personnel Report by September 15. Special Purpose Schools, Educational Service Units and Interim Programs (Rule 18) should also report during this time frame.

Staff Reporting instructions are available here. To add the Staff Reporting 2025-2026 collection to legacy portal accounts, a new activation code is required every year and can be obtained from your portal District Administrator. The collection is located within the Student & Staff (NSSRS) tab of the portal.

When completing the Staff Reporting collection, please ensure all staff email addresses are correct for those required. The NDE uses email addresses from Staff Reporting for communications to our Districts and Schools.

Once data has been entered into the Staff Reporting collection, please visit the NSSRS Validation collection to view any associated errors and reports. Certified staff whose licenses expire 9/30/25 or after will be listed in error and should be reviewed. If you are unsure whether your staff person will be certified by 9/30/25 or not, it is recommended to request a conditional permit. That can be done here.

The NDE will host several Staff Reporting Business Hours in September, should Districts/Systems have any questions while completing the collection. A schedule is coming soon. Meanwhile, questions can be sent to the NDE Service…Read More › – Staff Reporting for 2025-2026 – Now Open

Conditional, Alternative and Temporary Request Summer/Fall 2025

DUE DATE
10/11/2025
Public Districts, Nonpublic Schools, Rule 18’s, Special Purpose Schools and ESU’s

Conditional Permit allows someone to sign a contract and work as a certified staff member with a location (school system) limitation and deficiencies that have not been met to be issued a regular teaching certificate such as a content test. A conditional permit can also be requested for someone who has applied for a local substitute permit and has not completed the human relations training course.
An Alternative Permit is designed for an applicant to complete a program before applying for a regular certificate while being employed as a contracted teacher.
A Temporary Certificate is designed for an applicant that is currently a para in a Nebraska school system but is being hired as a teacher on a full-time basis and has taken and passed the appropriate Praxis Content Test.
Conditional Permits, Alternative Permits and Temporary Certificates can only be requested for employment in a Nebraska school system.  If an applicant has not been a continuous resident of Nebraska for the last five years, fingerprint cards will need to be sent to the certification office before any permits can be issued. Once all deficiencies have been satisfied listed on a conditional permit, a regular certificate/permit will be issued without the need to apply and pay a fee unless the conditional permit has been invalidated by the expiration date. It is important for applicants to pay attention to their expiration date on their…Read More › – Conditional, Alternative and Temporary Request Summer/Fall 2025
