Human Sciences and Education
The Human Sciences and Education Career Field offers students the chance to deepen their knowledge in areas such as family and consumer sciences, human services, education and training, and law and public safety. Programs within this career field include introductory, intermediate, and capstone courses, as well as expanded learning opportunities. Students can explore fields such as child, youth, and family studies; counseling and mental health; design; early childhood education; food science; nutrition and wellness; corrections and law enforcement services; and emergency and fire management. These programs allow students to gain practical experience and develop skills through both coursework and work-based learning.

Program of Study
The State Model Programs of Study provide details on course standards and course codes. Most Family and Consumer Sciences related courses fall under Human Sciences and Education, with the exception of Culinary Arts and Event Planning, which are part of Business, Marketing, and Management.

Nebraska FCCLA
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization for young men and women in Family and Consumer Sciences education in public and private school through grade 12. Everyone is part of a family, and FCCLA is the only national Career and Technical Student Organization with the family as its central focus. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education.
