NE One-Year Opportunity Grant - Chadron Middle SchoolRegional Science, History, and Entrepreneurship

The Chadron Middle School (CMS) afterschool program targeted the subgroup of high ability learners (HAL) which represent approximately 25% of program’s regular attendees. This grant provided additional funding to expand community partner collaboration, transportation for afterschool field trips designed to connect the students to expanded learning opportunities connected to work they were doing during the school day. ESI: Entrepreneurship Investigation, is a UNL Extension Curriculum, taught by an Extension educator and afterschool staff member, that supported students as they developed business plans, made products, and sold them at market place. CMS students were also invited to compete at the NE Capital. Field trips taken to local and regional sites of historical and scientific importance expanded student knowledge of our area for possible history day or science fair projects.
