STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETS MARCH 6-7 IN LINCOLN

The State Board of Education will review for the first time a draft of revised state reading standards as part of its work session on Thurs., March 6.

The State Board of Education will meet Thursday and Friday at the State Office Building,  6th Floor, 301 Centennial Mall South, Lincoln. The work session begins at 2 p.m. Thursday and the regular meeting at 10 a.m. Friday.

The state board also will meet with the University of Nebraska, Board of Regents at 7:30 a.m., Friday. On Friday at 11 a.m., Grand Island, Papillion/LaVista and South Sioux City public schools will present information on assessment.

The work session and meeting may be viewed at many county extension offices and school district offices across the state on NebSAT Channel 105. However, because of scheduling conflicts, some offices may not make the broadcast available. Those interested in viewing the State Board of Education meeting should call their local site in advance to confirm the availability of the broadcast.
