NEW! NDE Bulletin Notification System
Contact: NDE Helpdesk (ADVISERHelp@nebraskacloud.org or 888-285-0556)
The Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) is pleased to introduce the NEW! NDE Bulletin system, used to communicate pertinent information about data collection deadlines, grant opportunities, accountability and accreditation information, and more. The NEW! system will work similarly to a newsletter subscription service (like MailChimp or Constant Contact), allowing recipients to self-select their categories of interest and update notification preferences. In addition, all active and relevant bulletin items will be visible on the NDE Bulletin webpage (https://www.education.ne.gov/bulletin/).
At this time, we have migrated all existing email subscribers to the NEW! system and have begun to distribute Bulletin items. Initially, your subscription has been set to match the existing Bulletin process, sending a single digest email with all submitted items once a week. If you wish to change your subscription preferences, click on the “Manage Subscription” link at the bottom of this email.
For more in-depth information regarding the Bulletin process, please visit https://www.education.ne.gov/bulletin-details.
Data Collection Tool for Districts: Perceptual Surveys
Contact: NDE.Research@nebraska.gov
Perceptual data is one of the four essential data types for informing continuous school improvement efforts. As part of the Data Cadre’s initiative to equip staff with data analysis training, the Nebraska Department of Education, in collaboration with the ESU Coordinating Council, is providing a free service every school year to all Nebraska public school districts. This service empowers districts with a data collection tool for collecting the perceptions of school staff, students, and parents on multiple dimensions of school climate. This service includes the generation of survey links for every school building, and the development of reports on the survey data collected. To begin, this service will need to be requested via this online form. Note that this request may only be done once per school year for each district. Upon request, survey links will automatically be sent to the designated district contact for distribution to key stakeholders. The survey results are then accessible via the NEP Secure on the NDE Portal. Any inquiries on this service may be directed to the contact information listed above.
ELPA21 Important Dates
Contact: NDE Helpdesk (ADVISERHelp@nebraskacloud.org or 888-285-0556)
The ELPA21 Summative window opens February 3 and runs through March 13, 2020. All English Learners (ELs) K-12 are required to take the summative assessment which consists of four separate domain tests: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. ELs need to be identified in ADVISER by January 9, 2020 in order to have a record in the TIDE system for testing; ELs who are identified after this date will have to be manually entered at the district level.
Effective this year, there is no longer a K-1 paper/pencil supplement. There is still a paper/pencil version of the assessment which may be requested in very limited circumstances where some students may be precluded from using the online test version due to cultural considerations or based on an individual disability. Large print and braille versions are also available where needed. Paper/pencil, large print, and braille versions may be requested via the NE Air Portal through November 15. An additional window for ordering these versions will be available January 22 through March 6, 2020. For additional information on ELPA21 Accommodations, refer to the 2019-20 ELPA21 Accessibility and Accommodations Manual.
