Contact: NDE Helpdesk (ADVISERHelp@nebraskacloud.org or 888-285-0556)
The Teachers Assigned Out Of Endorsed Area or Level report is now available for 2018-2019 in NSSRS Validation on the NDE Portal. For public districts this report is built nightly from ADVISER course sections and grades data. Please note that if you are publishing the “Evaluator 1 Staff ID” data element to override the Staff ID of the primary teacher on a course, that data element is not submitted to ADVISER until your “Final” type course grades have been published. The course section and grades data published to ADVISER can be reviewed using the verification reports within the ADVISER Validation website.

Nebraska Summer Threat Assessment Training
Registration Questions – Contact: Deb Hericks (402.597.4843 or dhericks@esucc.org)
NDE School Safety is working with the ESUCC to offer Level 1 Threat Assessment training at two ESUs this summer. This K-12 school training will focus on identifying, assessing, and managing the risk or threat of violence posed by students, staff, and community members toward the school community.
This is a two-day training. Cost for the two-day training is $150.00 per person. An opportunity exists for schools to have the registration discounted when a team of four or more individuals attend with the roles of administrator, staff, law enforcement officer, and mental health professional are represented. If all four roles are represented and attend both days of training, the cost will be $20 per person each day.

Staff Reporting and Reimbursement Connection Data Conference Presentation
Contact: Lori Adams (lori.adams@nebraska.gov) or Pam Tagart (pam.tagart@nebraska.gov)
So sorry we missed the data conference but we have recorded our presentation located at: https://youtu.be/tm4U7-D75mY . Please view this 15 minute video and if you have any additional questions, you may contact one of us. This is a change to the process for these grants. In the past changes to staff reporting were allowed for almost a year after the school year, that will not be allowed starting in 2018-2019.
The most important pieces to take away from this presentation are:
- Ensure you have reported your reimbursable staff with positions in Staff Reporting correctly on or before 6/15 (Special Program Indicator and Position Assignment are important when NDE determines if staff are qualified and what program/report to include them in). No changes will be allowed after 6/30 unless there are extenuating circumstances. Time and Effort logs should also be completed by 6/30.
- There is an updated report in NSSRS Validation/Verification reports for Staff called Staff Reporting for GMS Grant Applications. The reimbursable staff for each program must be Qualified = Y and listed on the appropriate report (you can use a drop down to see the additional reports by funding). If the staff are not listed on the report or under the Qualified = N, these are staff that will not be reimbursable.
- DO NOT DELETE any assignments unless they were reported wrong from the beginning of the year. You can put a Completion Date to an assignment and if needed add a new assignment.

An activation code is required to add the collection to an NDE Portal account. This collection replaces the file upload process that was previously submitted in the NSSRS Data Manager.
Districts will use the same file format that has been used in past years and upload that file in this collection. The Post School Survey template is submitted during the 2018-2019 School Year for the 2017-2018 Career Education Concentrator graduates. The report of the students that should be included in this template is located in the NSSRS Validations for 2017-2018. The report is located in the Verification Reports for Student under the Career Education section; Post School Survey – Completers with Diploma.
AIR GBG is looking for Schools to Participate – OPEN: May 1
Contact: Sonia Sherman, NDE State Coordinator for this grant (soniasherman@me.com)
The Good Behavior Game (GBG) is an evidence-based classroom management strategy that teachers use to help students develop skills, including teamwork and self-regulation. Long-term benefits include pro-socialization effects such as reducing violent and aggressive behaviors, bullying, substance abuse, and suicide ideation or attempts.
GBG is implemented in elementary classrooms, and, as a strategy rather than a curriculum, it aligns well with positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) systems. Students work individually or in groups on a task or activity in any content area.
Contact Sonia if your school is interested in learning more!
