Child Labor
Scoring Guide for Activity 4, Strategy 1 Scoring Guide: Check for Understanding
  1. There is a cheap labor supply: many people including children are involved in low paying jobs in factories and in other dangerous occupations; the education level for children is low; heath care is a concern; living conditions are poor for the workers.
  2. Areas of Latin America and Africa are in similar stages of development; however, concerns about child labor may exist in any part of the world where a demand for cheap labor exists and living conditions allow for the exploitation of children
  3. There are concerns about education, health concerns, working conditions, safety concerns, hours and wages
  4. Many of the children from other areas of the world do not necessarily want to ban child labor- they want to improve the conditions under which children are allowed to work
