• Songs and poems: Songs and poems brought the message to the ordinary person. These songs and poems reached a large audience and helped to develop a nationwide awareness of the abuses. Songs and poems also reached an audience who were reluctant to read long articles on the problem in newspapers and pamphlets.
• Written factual pamphlets: More factual information could be included in pamphlets and those who looking for accurate information could find the facts' here. They also could be passed from hand to hand and discussed wherever people gathered.
• Cartoons: cartoons exaggerated the situation so that critical points the cartoonist wanted to get across stood out. People enjoyed the humor in these cartoons, but at the same time knew that they contained an important message. They looked forward to their publication and enjoyed talking about the issues being debated in the cartoon.
