P-EBT File Upload/Pandemic SNAP Benefits for Families
Public School Districts and Nonpublic Systems
The Families First Coronavirus Act proposes to provide Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) benefits to SNAP and non-SNAP households with children who temporarily lost access to free or reduced-price school meals due to COVID-19 related disruptions. In preparation to distribute these benefits, the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) are requesting LEAs provide student free and reduced-price meal eligibility data and classroom learning mode information.
Students are eligible if they meet these criteria:
- The student must have been determined eligible for free or reduced-price school meals for school year 2020-21.
- AND the school they attend has been closed or operating at reduced attendance or hours for 5 consecutive days.
- OR the student has opted in for remote learning.
- OR the student has been quarantined.
To ensure your students receive these benefits please upload the list of eligible students to the “P-EBT File Upload” collection. The collection is located in the NDE Portal https://portal.education.ne.gov/ under the Data Collections tab. An activation code provided by your District Administrator is required to add the collection to the Portal account. The instructions and a file template can be found within the collection.
