Now Collecting District Curriculum Contacts

Public Districts, Special Purpose Schools and ESUs

The “District Contact Information” collection (formally known as “District Curriculum Contact Information”) will be open on August 1, 2022. This collection is located within the Data Collections tab in the NDE Portal and collects Curriculum Contacts from Public Schools, Special Purpose Schools and ESU’s.

For those with prior access to the District Curriculum Contact Collection, simply enter the “District Contact Information” collection directly from your portal account. Your previous access will still apply. If new access is needed, an activation code is required. This can be obtained from your portal District Administrator.

Once the collection is added, use the drop-down menu to select “Curriculum Contact”. Provide contact information for up to three curriculum contacts. (Previously submitted information should be checked for accuracy.) The curriculum contacts are the primary contact for information related to standards, instruction, and instructional materials (curriculum, interventions, etc.).

This collection is open year-round for edits, with annual updates requested every August.

Instructional Materials Data Collection

For Public and Special Purpose Schools Only

The Instructional Materials Data Collection will be open on August 1, 2022.  This collection is located under the Data Collections tab in the NDE Portal and collects the instructional materials used by your district.  (An activation code is required and can be obtained from the District Administrator.) Information that has been submitted previously should be checked for accuracy.

This data collection should be completed by district staff that have knowledge of the instructional materials used for PK, K-12 English Language Arts, K-12 mathematics, and K-8 science.  Respondents will be asked to report instructional materials for the following grade bands: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 (ELA and mathematics only) and the year in which the instructional materials were adopted. In addition, districts will be asked to indicate the primary assessment used to determine if a student has a reading deficiency (per the Nebraska Reading Improvement Act).

ADVISER Validation SPED Exit Errors

In an effort to assist districts in submitting accurate data, the Office of Special Education has sent emails notifying Districts of ADVISER error(s) that need to be corrected.

The ADVISER Validation collection can be accessed through the NDE portal. To find your SPED errors in the ADVISER Validation collection please follow these instructions. (If assistance is needed to obtain access to the ADVISER Validation collection, please contact your Superintendent or email the NDE Service Desk at ADVISERHelp@NebraskaCloud.org.)

**Exiting errors from SY2021-2022 must be fixed prior to October 1st. Data will be locked at midnight on Oct 2nd and not editable after this time.

Nebraska Department of Labor Teachers Recruitment and Retention Grant (TRRG)

This program provides $4M allocated for grants to educational employers and childcare providers to provide premium pay to support recruitment and retention of: (A) Educators in the subject areas of mathematics, science, and career and technical education (CTE); and (B) Childcare and Early Childhood Education providers.

TO APPLY: Applicants will apply for an award using the application form provided by NDOL through the application portal located at dol.nebraska.gov.

 The application form requires the applicant to answer and attest to a series of questions relevant to program eligibility and design, including information about each eligible position requested, such as the amount requested for each position and if each position is vacant or occupied at the time of application.

If all funds are not reserved by January 1, 2023, ARPA program guidelines may be amended to expand eligibility pay to other educational employees. The application period ends no later than October 2nd, 2023.

In lieu of our traditional in-person Data Conference held annually in Kearney, we have transitioned this event into a series of shorter, informational webinars catering to the needs of Nebraska school districts/systems. Additionally, the new monthly webinar series will be taking the place of the ADVISER District Meetings which previously occurred at 10am on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

For the September session, the schedule is:

Staff Reporting for 2022-2023 Now Open

The Staff Reporting 2022-2023 collection is now open.

State statute requires Public Districts and Nonpublic Systems submit a Fall Personnel Report by September 15. Special Purpose Schools, Educational Service Units and Interim Programs (Rule 18) should also report during this time frame as well.

The Staff Reporting collection is located within the Student & Staff (NSSRS) tab of the portal. To add the collection to portal accounts, a new activation code is required every year and can be obtained from your portal District Administrator.

Staff Reporting instructions are available here. Options for submission are online entry and file upload. Changes can be found in Appendix A: Change Summary. 2 New Position Assignment Codes were added this year: 5190 – Substitute Teachers and 5330 – Activities/Athletic Coaches.

When completing the Staff Reporting collection, please ensure all staff email addresses are correct for those required. The NDE uses email addresses from Staff Reporting for communications to our Districts and Schools.

Self-Employment Cost Methodology Study RFP

Nebraska Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) requests proposals to develop a rate setting methodology to determine actual costs of providing self-employment services. This includes a comprehensive review of self-employment activities currently provided, a review of industry standards, collection of provider costs and analysis, rate recommendations for services, and projected fiscal impact to the agency.

2022-2023 Course Codes and Clearing Endorsements are now available: https://coursecodes.education.ne.gov/

The website features several helpful tools. A few include:
1. View all changes from the prior year by selecting the Changes tab in the Menu bar at the top of the page.
2. Search by specific key words, a Course Code or even an Endorsement Code.
3. Select only Math, Special Education or any other subject specific courses.
