Calendar Event Addition

Only meeting of public bodies subject to the Open Meetings Actⁱ and workshops and conferences available to the public will appear on the NDE Events Calendar. All requests will be approved prior to publication on the NDE Calendar.

In order to meet the notice requirements of the Open Meetings Act, information on the meetings of public bodies must be posted at least one week in advance of the meetingⁱⁱ and must include the time and place of the meetingⁱⁱⁱ and a current agenda.

ⁱ In addition to the State Board of Education, various councils, committees, and bodies associated with NDE that are created by law or by NDE (and advisory committees to such councils , committees or bodies) may be “public bodies” subject to the requirements of the Open Meetings Act. Please contact the General Counsel’s Office if you are unsure whether a council, committee or other entity is a “public body.”

ⁱⁱ Emergency meetings of public bodies may be held without such notice in certain circumstances. Contact the General Counsel’s Office for assistance.

ⁱⁱⁱ Public bodies may meet by videoconference subject to certain requirements. Public bodies may not meet by telephone, except in emergencies. Contact the General Counsel’s Office for assistance.
