Safe and Drug-Free Schools
The Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (SDFSCA) is administered by the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE). The No Child Left Behind, Title IV A, formula grant program gives local educational agencies the option to establish, operate and improve local programs for school drug and violence prevention. Information about the administration of the Title IV A program is available by clicking on Title IV A Grants Management.
The remainder of this site is devoted to technical assistance on and resources for prevention programming. The materials were developed for use by school district staff or persons working on alcohol, drug, tobacco or violence prevention programming for school districts.
NOTE: Most students do not use illicit drugs, and most are not even current users of alcohol. The information within this site is necessarily focused on drug use and violence, but this does not imply that these behaviors are the norm for students. On the contrary, the most successful schools expect positive behavior from students, and partner with them in creating effective prevention efforts.
