Six Nebraska Schools Named 2012 National Blue Ribbon Schools

It was a big day for Elgin Public School when Governor Dave Heinemen presented the Elgin Elementary with the 2012 National Blue Ribbon School award on November 28th! Governor Heineman congratulated the staff and students on a job well done and spoke on the importance of education. He spoke to the students about how important good reading skills are and that he reads three to four hours a day in his job. The Governor then presented the Blue Ribbon Award to the Elgin Elementary Staff and congratulated each of them along with Senator Sullivan and Dr. Breed. More... |

Bloomfield Jr-Sr High School in Bloomfield, Elgin Elementary School in Elgin, Mount Michael Benedictine School in Elkhorn, Norwood Park Elementary School in Lincoln, Potter-Dix Elementary School in Dix and Skutt Catholic High School in Omaha have been named 2012 National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education. |

On Monday, September 10, 2012, Nebraska Education Commissioner Roger Breed visited the staff, students and members of the School Board at Madison Public Schools. Bredenkamp, a math teacher at the Westside High School Career Center, the district’s alternative high school, is one of 12 teachers nationwide selected by the federal education department as a “teaching ambassador fellow” for the 2012-13 school year. Sherman Elementary Young Authors

Sherman Elementary School students in Dianne Lee’s classroom display books they designed with their own artwork and stories they wrote and edited. Students invited special guests to their Author Celebration where they read aloud their stories in their classroom that they designed as a theatre.
