ECICC Grants

The links below are to federal grants related to early childhood that have been awarded to the ECICC or a Nebraska state agency. The Council serves in an advisory and/or stakeholder capacity for the grant application and implementation.

• State Advisory Council ARRA grant: Funded through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) of 2009, the grant supports two priority focus areas of the ECICC: school readiness and a unified early childhood data system. The ECICC serves as the state advisory council (SAC) as designated by the Governor.

• IDEA-Part C grant: Funded through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)-Part C, infants and toddlers with disabilities ages birth-3, is carried out by the Nebraska Department of Education and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services as co-lead agencies. The ECICC serves as the state interagency coordinating council for Part C.

• Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems (ECCS) Grant Program: Together for Kids and Families is a grant that was originally awarded to Nebraska Health and Human Services System in 2003. It is funded through the State Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems (ECCS) Grant Program administered by the U.S. DHHS Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB). The ECCS project was designed to address comprehensive early childhood systems, inclusive of the following topic areas: (1) access to medical/dental homes, (2) mental health/social-emotional development, (3) early care and education, (4) parent education, and (5) family support.

• Home Visiting Program: Carried out in accordance with new federal law, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) amends the Social Security Act, Title V, Section 511 by creating the Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program. The program is funded by a grant to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services from the USDHHS-MCHB. The program is intended for families with pregnant women and children from birth to age five.
