Mission
To raise the level of academic achievement through planning, policy formulation, and evaluation, including fiscal accountability, that improves the quality of education accessible to all students.
NEBRASKA STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION GOALS
2012-13
Adopted February 7, 2012
Goal 1: Improve Achievement Outcomes for All Students
1) Develop an effective longitudinal data system
2) Implement teacher/principal performance frameworks and develop an evaluation model
3) Eliminate the academic achievement gaps wherever they exist
4) Attain a high school graduation rate of 90% or higher using the four-year cohort method in each Nebraska public high school
5) Explore adapting a high school level NeSA exit exam as a college-readiness exam
6) Expand quality early education opportunities so that all Nebraska children have access to quality public preschools
Goal 2: Improve and Support State and Local Accountability
1) Establish and begin implementing an accountability system regarding the performance of public schools and districts
2) Develop funding sources to support the compilation of usable data
3) Develop and implement a fully actualized data analysis system to guide decisions on the state, district, and classroom levels (data dashboard)
4) Provide models and technical assistance to support district improvement efforts
Goal 3: Improve Communication and Collaboration with Policy Partners
1) Develop and implement a fully actualized data analysis and report system to guide decisions on all levels
2) Improve the working relationship and communication exchange between the NDE, Governor, legislature, post-secondary institutions, Federal-level leaders, and local districts
3) Jointly establish a centralized virtual school with partners throughout the state to provide accessible and affordable education for students and educators
