Part B - IDEA Application

The Nebraska Department of Education is submitting the FFY 2013 Application to the U. S. Office for Special Education Programs for funds pursuant to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA).  Federal funds received under the Part B Application are used by the Department of Education, school districts, and other service providers in the provision of special education and related services to children with verified disabilities from date of diagnosis to age 21.  The Application, which includes a Statement of Assurances and funding information, is available for review at three Department of Education Special Education Offices; (1) Nebraska Department of Education, 301 Centennial Mall South, Lincoln Nebraska 68509;  (2) Educational Service Unit #3, 6949 South 110th Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68128; and (3) 505A Broadway, Suite 500, Scottsbluff, Nebraska 69361.  The Application is also available for review on the Nebraska Department of Education website at:  www.education.ne.gov/sped/data.html.

The Application will be available for review for 60 days beginning February 25, 2013 through April 26, 2013. Public comment will be accepted from February 25, 2013 through March 27, 2013.

Part C - IDEA Application

The Nebraska Part C Co-Leads, Department of Health and Human Services and Department of Education, will submit an application for FFY 2013 funds to the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs, to provide early intervention services for infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families.  The Application includes a statement of assurances and funding information for public review and comment.  In addition, the System of Payments and Interagency and Intra-agency Agreements for Transition are available for public consideration.

The Part C Application will be available for review for 60 days beginning February 18, 2013.  Public comment will be accepted until March 20, 2013.  Print copies of the documents can be reviewed and comments will be accepted at the following locations: (1) NDHHS, Office of Medicaid and Long-Term Care, 301 Centennial Mall South, Lincoln NE 68509; (2) NDE, Office of Special Education, 301 Centennial Mall South, Lincoln NE 68509; (3) Educational Service Unit #3, 6949 South 110th St., Omaha NE 68128; (4) State Offices, 505A Broadway, Suite 500, Scottsbluff NE 69361.
