NEBRASKA TEACHER SHORTAGE

Each fall the Nebraska Department of Education conducts a survey of all Nebraska K-12 public school districts to gather data relating to teacher shortage areas. The data from the Teacher Shortage Survey is then summarized and communicated to the US Department of Education (USDE) and educational entities throughout the state.

NOTE: Shortage areas in Nebraska for a given academic year are designated by the USDE as shortage areas for the following academic year, i.e. shortage areas determined by the 2012 survey are reported in Nebraska for use in the 2013-14 academic year and by the USDE as shortage areas for the 2014-15 academic year. To determine the shortage areas for federal loan forgiveness, please consult the US Department of Education's Teacher Shortage Areas Nationwide Listing.

Teacher shortage areas in Nebraska for the 2013-2014 academic year are:

  • Business Marketing & Information Technology (BMIT)
