Data Dashboard

The Data Dashboard utilizes Nebraska data to address Nebraska’s individual student needs, measure progress, highlight trends, and refine action plans throughout the school year.

Ed-Fi Solution

  • The Data Dashboard is an optional tool for use by Nebraska public school districts

  • It will be designed to provide flixibility to upload information from different sources on different schedules to support local data analysis and research

Pilot Districts

Participation in the Nebraska dashboard pilot is an optional opportunity for Nebraska School Districts to apply data-driven decision making. Ten school districts have committed to participating in the pilot process, including:

  • Bancroft-Rosalie Community Schools
  • Fairbury Public Schools
  • Neligh-Oakdale Schools
  • Ponca Public Schools
  • South Sioux City Community Schools
  • Boone Central Schools
  • McCook Public Schools
  • Omaha Public Schools
  • Valentine Community Schools

The Plan of Work for piloting development and implementation of the Nebraska data dashboard will commence in three phases, each to proceed subsequently upon successful completion of the previous phase, between the months of September 2013 and December 2014.

Pilot Phases:

  1. Dashboard Readiness (September, 2013 – February, 2014)
    1. Define Partnership Structure
      1. Collaboration with local ESU
    2. Personnel Assignments
      1. Dashboard System Administrator
      2. Data Steward
    3. Pilot Engagement Meetings
      1. Participate in up to three pilot district engagement meetings designed to provide a forum for
        1. First Meeting – November, 2013
        2. Second Meeting – December, 2013
        3. Third Meeting – January, 2013
    4. Analyze Local Data Sources
      1. Map the data requirements for the dashboards - plus other collections optionally unified into the Ed-Fi standard - back to local source systems
        1. To facilitate this process, pilot districts will complete the Dashboard Readiness Assessment.
    5. Data Alignment to Ed-Fi Standard
    6. Identity Management Processes
      1. Identify current processes and roles
      2. Connect with ESUCC ID management solutions
    7. Determine Dashboard Goals and Metrics
    8. Develop Training and Implementation Plan
      1. Collaboration with Data Cadre efforts
      2. Partnerships via local ESU
      3. In-service opportunities
  2. Dashboard Development (February, 2014 – June, 2014)
    1. Work with NDE and relevant local/state contractor(s) for technical developments including:
      1. Integrate security with directory and source system for roles
      2. Development interface from source data system(s), using ETL or web services
      3. Test dashboards for data quality emanating from sources systems
  3. Dashboard Deployment (June, 2014 – December, 2014)
    1. Teacher and Administrator Training
      1. Data Cadre alignment
    2. Operational Classroom Use
      1. Feedback to NDE, partners, contactor(s)
    3. Knowledge Transfer
