Beyond the Bake Sale: the Essential Guide to Family/School Partnerships
This book, written in 2007 by Anne T. Henderson, Karen L. Mapp, Vivian R. Johnson, and Don Davies, is a practical, hands-on guide for helping schools and families work better together to improve children's education.
Throughout this Family Engagement section of the Toolkit, there are references to parts of Beyond the Bake Sale. These are reprinted by permission of the New Press. You will find the entire collection of excerpts, which are found under Websites and Other Resources, under Tools. The excerpts appear individually, according to topic, within sections of the toolkit. Schools who have the Beyond the Bake Sale may find this PowerPoint Guide supports use of the book with educatiors and parents.
A representative of a Nebraska school district may be eligible to receive a complimentary copy of Beyond the Bake Sale for each building in their district. (One book per building in district will be distributed by NDE/PIRC.) The form below includes a place for the applicant to share their plan (a few sentences) of how they intend to utilize this resource as part of their school's family engagement initiatives.
